🐹 George, The First Spark

George was my very first guinea pig. Gentle, patient, and endlessly forgiving, the kind of pig who teaches you without you realising you’re learning. George was the beginning. When he passed, it broke me. But it also led to the next chapter.

🐹 Jake & Milo, The Twins

After George, I brought home Jake and Milo, my first bonded pair. They taught me how pigs communicate, how bonds form, and how much joy two little animals can bring. They shaped my early understanding of care, responsibility, and love.

🌱 Suki, Lillium & Rodney

Then came Suki and Lillium, followed by Rodney, the mis-sexed boar whose true sex was discovered too late, after the girls were already expecting. Suddenly I had babies: Coco, Gizmo, Mahri, Lil Ginge, baby Munchkin (not the current sow), and two stillborns. It was joy and heartbreak in the same breath. I learnt fast. I learnt the hard way. I learnt by living it.

I built C&C cages, split the herds, and turned a spare room into a guinea pig haven. Then life changed, I fell pregnant and became very unwell. Rehoming nine pigs broke my heart, but it saved them. Ethan was born at 24 weeks. My mum cared for the remaining five. Rodney passed from cancer. The girls lived long, peaceful lives.

🐹 Romeo’s Herd

After the original herd came Romeo, Juliette, Dotty, Ruth, and Mary. A lively, loving group who reminded me why I kept coming back to guinea pigs. Each had their own quirks and place in my heart.

🐹 Star & Nugget

Then came Star and Nugget, a bonded pair full of warmth and character. Another chapter in the long story of pigs who shaped my life before The Squeak Life existed.

🐹 Bingo, Munchkin & Pip

Years later, Ethan wanted a pet of his own. We found Bingo in a boiling-hot glass tank. Then Munchkin in a shed with rabbits. Then Pip, alone with sore eyes. Bingo accepted them both. They became a trio. Ethan found comfort, joy, and calm in their presence.

As I looked back on everything, the mistakes, rescues, heartbreaks, and lessons, I realised something:

"What if my experiences could help others? What if this business could become Ethan’s future too?"

That was the moment. The spark. The shift. The beginning. The Squeak Life was born, a brand built on love, learning, and lived experience. A brand created not just to help others, but to build a future for my son.
