My Honest Temu Haul Review: What Worked, What Didn’t, and I’d Never Buy Again

If you’ve spent any time on Facebook or Instagram, you’ve probably seen Temu pop up with endless “bargains” for small pets. Bright colours, cute designs, and prices that make you think, Well… maybe just one more thing for the pigs.
So I did what any guinea pig mum with questionable impulse control does I ordered a haul.
Some things surprised me. Some things were actually brilliant and some things… well… went straight in the bin.
Here’s my honest, experience‑based review of every item we tried, written from the perspective of a home with three very opinionated guinea pigs.
⭐ 2‑in‑1 Plastic Hay & Pellet Feeder
I’d seen this in so many cage photos online that curiosity finally got me. The moment it arrived, I knew my girls would never be using it. The shape is awkward, the openings are risky, and I can absolutely see how pets get stuck or strangled in designs like this.
Not worth the risk. Not recommended.
⭐ Piggy Bunk bed
I’d wanted something like this for ages mainly because I’d been eyeing the beautiful versions from The Pig Room. At the time I couldn’t justify the postage, so I tried the Temu version. It got used, but it was tiny. We’ve since upgraded to the one I originally wanted, and the difference is huge. You really do get what you pay for.
⭐ Fluffy Guinea Pig Bed Mats
Very cosy, very cute… and an absolute nightmare to clean. The fluffy fabric traps hay and fur so tightly that it’s almost impossible to get everything out.
Personal preference, but for me it’s a no.
⭐ Double‑Layer Hanging Hammock
Looked cool.Hamster‑sized. Binned immediately.
Not suitable for guinea pigs at all.
⭐ Treat‑Dispensing Ball
Great idea, terrible execution. Treats get stuck inside and cleaning them is almost impossible. If you want a treat ball, go to HayPigs.com their two‑piece design comes apart fully and is so much easier to clean.
Not recommended.
⭐ Timothy Hay Heart Treats
A win! The trio love these. I was hesitant because they’re more processed than our usual forage, but we only use them occasionally as hanging treats.A good “sometimes” treat.
⭐ Small Animal Hideout Cave
Adorable designs, lovely shape… and yet again, hamster‑sized.
Too small for guinea pigs. Disappointing
⭐ Circular Small Animal Beds
Cute patterns, soft fabric but I genuinely don’t see a practical use for these, even for hamsters.
Not functional.
⭐ Hay Bag Feeder
This one has me torn. It saves hay waste and the girls enjoy it, and the openings are large enough that even my biggest pig can get in and out safely. But I still worry about the general safety of hay bags, and I’d rather they didn’t climb inside at all especially because they pee and poop in it, which defeats the whole purpose.
I’ll use it occasionally, but never unsupervised. Still on the fence.
Final Thoughts: What I Learned From This Temu Haul
Temu is tempting the prices, the colours, the “almost sold out” banners… it’s easy to get carried away. But when it comes to guinea pigs, size and safety matter more than anything.
Here’s the honest breakdown:
Worth it:
Timothy hay heart treats
(Maybe) the hay bag — with supervision only
Not worth it:
Anything labelled for “small animals” that is actually hamster‑sized
Complicated feeders
Fluffy fabrics that trap hay
Treat toys that don’t come apart for cleaning
Better alternatives:
ThePigRoom.com for Piggy bunk beds
HayPigs.com for enrichment toys
Etsy makers for properly sized, pig‑safe items
Local small businesses who actually understand guinea pig sizing
